The Story
"Boxes" is a story about secrets.
It follows two characters, a grandmother, Oma, and her granddaughter, Jessica, while they spend the afternoon packing up the recently deceased grandfather's belongings. As they reminisce, hidden truths about their lives come to light. Oma tries her best to hide a secret life she lived before the Holocaust, while Jessica tries her hardest to come out about her sexuality.
As creators of the project, this film is very dear to us. It is a passion project that stems from true stories in our own lives, about the intersectionality of identities, the clash between religion and sexuality, and the hidden nature of family secrets. We are excited to bring this story to life and create something meaningful to share with others on screen.
